Description
What makes this guitar special: Reigning from some of the earlier Fender Japan years, this Tele boasts a little bit of history and a whole lot of character. Its “A” serial stamped in the bridge signifies a 1986 production year, while the neck is dated ’87. The pickups have a unique tonal response that embodies the traditional Tele sound while still having a touch of its own sound. The neck is still warm and round, but has a slightly cleaner, more focused tone that comes across as classic jangle. The bridge has a similar vintage vibe with the timelessly crisp twang Teles are known for, but with a sweet upper midrange to boot. A phase reverse mini-toggle has been added somewhere along the lines of its ownership, providing subtle additions to its tonal array. The slim neck plays easily at length and is a welcome separation from the standard Cs and Modern Cs out there currently. Overall, it’s still in great shape for its age and comes with a hardshell case and a pro setup as well.
Condition: This guitar is in very good condition overall. It does show various nicks, dings, dents, chips, scuffs, and other forms of light wear, but is still in fantastic shape for a 30-year-old guitar. The frets show mild wear but still have a considerable amount of playing time left in them. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions as it should.
Body: Single cutaway double bound alder body in Candy Apple Red finish. Vintage-style bent plate bridge with three adjustable threaded saddles. Knurled control knobs. 3-ply white pickguard.
Neck: Slim D shape maple neck and rosewood fingerboard with white dot inlays. Vintage-style tuning machines. 1 11/16” nut width. 25.5” scale. .79” deep at the 1st fret and .88” deep at the 12th.
Electronics: Original Fender single-coil pickups in the neck and bridge. 1 x volume, 1 x tone control. 3-way pickup selector. 1 x unoriginal phase inverse mini-toggle.
