Description
What makes this guitar special: This is a well-executed modded Strat Plus with a fantastic look and great tone. The original Lace Sensors have been replaced by EMG active single-coils, which are exceptionally smooth across the board, while still carrying many classic tonal traits like the hyped and rounded mid-range Strats are known for. To accommodate for the battery, it has a custom-routed cavity in the back, which is cleanly done, but not factory. The neck, pickguard, pickup covers, and control knobs have all aged in a uniform fashion, hinting that the mods it does have, may have been done at the same time, considerably earlier in the guitar’s life. They all possess a great patina that gives it a bit of vintage charm even though it is technically borderline in terms of age. Plus, it is super clean for its age, and still looks, sounds, and plays great.
Condition: This Strat Plus is in very good condition overall, if not better. It only shows various small dings, dents, light scratches, and other forms of normal wear throughout, such as the finish wear on the arm contour, but is in fantastic shape for a guitar that’s nearly 30 years old. The neck has been refretted, but the frets show only light wear and still have a considerable amount of playing time left in them. The body has been routed for a battery cavity for the active EMG pickups. The routing was clean but not factory. There is a finish crack by the neck pocket but it does not go into the wood. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod is functioning.
Body: Contoured alder body in Lake Placid Blue finish. 3-ply pearloid pickguard. Deluxe-style 2-point tremolo bridge. Additional aftermarket cavity routed for battery. Top hat control knobs.
Neck: Medium depth maple neck and maple fingerboard with dot inlays. 1 11/16” Wilkinson roller nut. Satin-finish Sperzel locking tuners. Refretted.
Electronics: Unoriginal EMG single-coil active pickups (marked “IJG”) in the neck, middle, and bridge. 1 x master volume, 2 x tone controls.
Weight: 8 lbs 6.2 oz
Playability/Sound: The neck on this guitar plays as easy as any and should be comfortable and familiar to a wide variety of players. The EMGs sound great in every position and not only transition smoothly from one position to another, but still provide excellent variance from the neck to the bridge while still maintaining a bit of classic rounded and pronounced mid-range Strats are well-known for.
Case: Includes unoriginal tweed hardshell case.
