Description
What makes this guitar special: The M-36 made its debut in 1978 & this gorgeous example commemorates the 10th Anniversary of this proudly American made guitar. The anniversary label inside the body is hand-signed by C.F. Martin IV. The guitar offers magnificent tone & texture, with a warmth that's very inviting; rich dynamics & brilliant resonance. A remarkable guitar with unlimited capabilities, this is a sure fire winner & a must have for any Martin enthusiast.
Cosmetic Condition: Excellent condition overall for a 26-year old guitar. There are various minor nicks & dings; surface scratches & light play wear throughout. There is a lacquer crack in the top, down the center, starting behind the bridge & running to the edge of the top. Again, this is just a lacquer crack & not a crack in the wood. When we acquired the guitar the bridge was lifting a bit from the top, so our master luthier professionally repaired it & it now looks fantastic. You'll notice some minor finish chipping around the bridge, but the sound quality & playability are superb!
Neck: Mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dots. Beautiful, dark rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays. Frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them. Martin tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions properly.
Body: Solid spruce top with 6-ply binding. The top has aged into a soft, caramel color that looks simply wonderful. Nicely figured rosewood bridge with cream end pins & black dot inlays. Tortoise pickguard & multi-ring rosette. Solid Indian Rosewood back & sides. 3-piece back with 3-ply binding. A little bit of the back binding in the waist needed to be reglued & is fine now. 16" lower bout; 11 3/4" upper bout; 4" depth. There is no pickup. Guitar weighs 4 lbs 9.1 oz. The guitar has been professionally set up by us with fresh strings & low action, so it plays great!
Case: Hardshell case included.
