Description

What makes this guitar special: A fantastic reissue of one of the coolest guitars ever made, this double cutaway Les Paul Special is seething with vibe and playability. It has been upgraded with a set of brand new Gibson Select P90 pickups which capture all the hot tone and snarl of their vintage counterparts. Gibson hasn’t offered a regular production high-gloss version of the Special (with P-90s) since the ‘90s, and most of those don’t feature neck binding like this one, or the ABR-1 bridge-examples like these are becoming increasingly rare. This piece has been played in just enough that you don’t need to worry about babying it, with enough life in it to rock for decades to come. It has been professionally inspected and setup by our expert in-house luthier, with a fresh strings, low-action, and a nice shiny polish, so it sounds as fantastic as it looks.

Cosmetic condition: Used but not abused with some good honest wear throughout. There are various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs present, with visible buckle rash on much of the back of the body. The finish has worn away where the arm rests on the bass side of the lower bout, and the headstock overlay shows some light scratching, with a single chip on the upper corner. The original pickups have upgraded with Gibson Select P-90’s, and one of the volume potentiometers has been replaced. Overall, this one has an honest look to it, with a great vibe.

Body: Double cutaway solid mahogany body finished in high-gloss wine red. 5-way b/w pickguard, ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and chrome stopbar tailpiece.

Weight: 7 lb, 5.9 oz

Neck: Medium profile D-shaped mahogany neck with bound rosewood fingerboard, black side dots, and pearl dot inlays. 1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4" scale length. Frets shows some light wear but have a ton of life left in them. Black headstock overlay with pearl inlaid Gibson logo and gold silk-screened Les Paul Special logo. Vintage style two-stripe Gibson Deluxe tuners work great. Neck is straight and truss rod is fully functional.

Electronics: Dual Gibson Select P90 single coil pickups (Bridge-7.79k ohms, Neck-7.91k ohms) with 3-way pickup selector switch and black tophat knobs, 2x tone, 2x volume. One tone potentiometer has been replaced. All electronics are in great working condition.

Case: Brown Gibson hard shell case included.
