Description
What makes this guitar special: This magnificent R8 was manufactured in '96, making it a first year model & very rare. It was recently acquired as part of a collection of nine Les Pauls, each hand selected by Yamano specifically for the Japanese market. This particular model has a stunning quilt top finished in Amber Burst. A not-too-beefy '58 profile neck combined with a pair of Gibson PAF reissue humbuckers makes this gorgeous Les Paul an awesome sounding guitar & a must have for any serious player or collector!
Cosmetic Condition: Excellent condition overall with some minor nicks & dings along with mild surface scratches. There are two areas on the guitar showing some finish blemishes. On the top, between the treble volume & tone controls, there's an area where the finish is bubbling. Not sure what caused it, but it appears to be from something that may have spilled on the guitar & chemically reacted with the finish. The other finish blemish is on the bottom of the body around the strap button. Again, not quite sure what caused it, but it's some sort of finish discoloration & streaking. Both areas are purely cosmetic & do not affect playability or sound quality.
Neck: Super comfortable, one-piece mahogany neck with cream binding & black side-dots. Beautiful, dark rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays. Frets are in great shape with no wear. Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works great.
Body: One-piece mahogany body with a superb quilted maple top & cream binding. Stopbar tailpiece & ABR-1 bridge with nickel hardware. Guitar weighs 8 lbs 14.4 oz.
Pickups: Gibson PAF reissue humbuckers with cream bezels. Bridge - 8.40K ohms; Neck - 7.95K ohms. Dual volume & tone controls with amber "top hat" knobs; 3-way toggle switch & bumble bee caps. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
