What makes this guitar special: A gorgeous, one-of-a-kind prototype with an absolutely stunning AAAA-Grade flame maple top! This beautiful one-off Custom Shop R9 recently came to us as part of a nine-piece collection of premium Les Pauls, many of them hand-selected by Yamano for the Japanese market. What really makes this guitar special, however, is the body wood - solid Paulownia, showing off some groovy grain patterns & making the guitar super light weight for a Les Paul - only 7 lbs 1.1 oz! Because it's a prototype Gibson couldn't provide any specific documentation, and although it can't officially be confirmed, the fingerboard looks an awful lot like Brazilian Rosewood. Whether it is or isn't, the guitar is still quite remarkable in every aspect & guaranteed to be a hit with both players & collectors alike.
Cosmetic Condition: Superb condition & very clean for its age. Some minor nicks & dings; light surface scratches & mild finish blems. Overall the guitar looks great & that top is just amazing!
Neck: '59 Profile, one-piece mahogany neck with cream binding & black side-dots. Beautifully figured rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays. Frets are in great shape with no wear. Gibson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition. Gibson Custom Shop logo on the back of the headstock along with "Proto #1" hand written in gold.
Body: Solid Paulownia body with spectacular flame maple top finished in bourbonburst. Stopbar tailpiece & ABR-1 bridge with nickel hardware. No pickguard & no holes drilled for a pickguard either.
Pickups: Gibson '57 Classic Humbuckers with chrome covers & cream bezel rings. Bridge - 8.21K ohms; Neck - 7.80K ohms. Dual volume & tone controls with amber "top hat" knobs; 3-way toggle switch. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included.
