Description
What makes this guitar special: This is a killer National Delphi with a price tag nearly half, if not more, of a newer National resonator. The body produces all the traditional tonal elements that this style is known for, from the plucky twang of the attack to the warm and round mid-range character, as well as the top end chime that seems to sustain forever. The finish has a unique look to it as well, with what National deemed a “baked wrinkle” finish, which appears to be the guitar version of metallic tolex in terms of its feel and pattern. In addition, it is super clean for being 15-years-old and still looks and plays like it’s barely been touched, providing it that much more value.
Condition: This guitar is in very good condition overall, if not better. Outside of some oxidation on the tailpiece and a few minor dings here and there, it is in remarkable condition for its age. The frets show only light wear and still have a ton of life left in them. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod functions as it should.
Body: Traditionally-shaped steel body in Green baked wrinkle finish. Nickel tailpiece. Biscuit-style bridge.
Neck: V shaped mahogany neck and grained ivoroid-bound rosewood fingerboard with grained ivoroid dot inlays. 3-per-side open-gear tuning machines. 1 13/16” nut width. 25.5” scale.
Weight: 8 lbs 12.5 oz
Playability/Sound: The chunky V shaped neck is perfect for a resonator, and not only helps to provide a bit more body to neck weight balance, but something more substantial to move around while playing. The body produces a fantastic sound, with tons of classic plucky attack and rounded mid-range warmth while still imparting a solid bit of chime.
Case: Includes original hardshell case.
