Description

What makes this guitar special: Based on the incredibly rare original Tal Farlow models of the 1960’s, these Custom Shop reproductions are uncompromising in their attention to detail. From the faux-scroll top to the beautiful rosewood inlaid tailpiece, these are some of the most unique archtops Gibson has made. This one is in particularly great shape, and appears to have been case kept for most of its life. It’s been professionally setup and inspected by our expert in-house luthier, and will arrive ready to play out of the case.

Cosmetic condition: Great condition, with only a few signs of age present. Light surface and handling scratches throughout, with some visible pickwear on the guard, light fret wear, and mild oxidation on the hardware. Cosmetically, this one is a 9/10.

Body: Double bound maple body with intricately flamed sides and back and faux scroll on the top (created by actually carving the binding in, per Farlow’s original design). Dual bound F-holes and tortoise pickguard. ABR-1 bridge with floating rosewood base, and rosewood inlaid trapeze tailpiece with Tal Farlow pearl name plate.

Weight: 7 lb, 9.8 oz

Neck: 3-piece flame maple neck with black side dots and upside down J-200 style mother-of-pearl crown inlays. Double bound rosewood fingerboard is in terrific shape, and while frets show some light wear, they still have a great deal of life left in them. 1 11/16” nut width, 25 1/2" scale length. Bound headstock with black overlay and mother-of-pearl Gibson logo with double crown center inlay. Back of headstock sports a black overlay and Grover tuners, in perfect working condition. Neck is straight and truss rod is fully functional.

Electronics: Dual ’57 Classic humbuckers (Neck-7.67K ohms, Bridge-7.71K ohms) with 3-way pickup selector switch and black tophat knobs, 2x tone, 2x volume.

Case: Original hard shell case included, along with original Gibson Custom Art & Historic Certificate of Authenticity.
