Description

What makes this guitar special: This is a unique Melody Maker that has been modded a variety of ways to give it its own distinct identity. The original vintage-style tuning machines have been replaced with more stable gold-plated Grovers. The body has been routed to accommodate a humbucker, which outputs a good amount of hot crisp bite with a little extra vintage jangle. The wiring has been modified as well, to provide a push/pull coil-tap tone control that allows players to strip the heat away from the pickup into a smoother single-coil sound. The original bridge has also been replaced with a slick wraparound chrome Wilkinson bridge. Overall, the neck plays easily, the body is nice and light, and it still remains in good shape for a used guitar.

Condition: This Melody Maker is in very good condition overall. It does show various small nicks, dings, dents, chips, and scratches, but still largely remains in great shape. The frets show only light wear and still have a considerable amount of life left in them. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod functions as it should.

Body: Single cutaway mahogany body in Sunburst finish. Original pickup route has been widened to accommodate the humbucker. Unoriginal chrome Wilkinson wraparound bridge. Black speed knobs. Single-ply black pickguard.

Neck: Slim to medium D shape mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with white dot inlays. Unoriginal Grover tuning machines. 1 11/16” nut width. 24.5” scale.

Electronics: Single humbucker in the bridge. Marked “13.50Y 6d5R” in marker on the underside. 1 x volume, 1 x push/pull coil-tapping tone control.

Weight: 6 lbs 3.1 oz

Playability/Sound: Between the satin finish and familiar feel, the neck is quite easy to move around. The humbucker has a hot crisp response with a bit of vintage jangle which can be thinner out to a bit smoother single-coil sound.

Case: Includes original box.
