Description

What makes this guitar special: A limited run from 2008, this uniquely designed Guitar of the Month (Sept. 2008) has an absolute ton of character. A Reverse Explorer by design, this guitar offers a flipped version of its namesake, and with it, a few other changes that help to set it apart in quite a few ways. First, it comes with gold Steinberger gearless tuning machines, giving it a distinct look without losing the quick lock-and-load ease of standard tuners. It also displays a checkered lightning-shaped pickguard, the pattern of which is carried into the only two fingerboard inlays it has. Its 57 Classic humbuckers have textured covers, but still output loads of warm chunk in the neck and crisp bite in the bridge. The neck is a familiar and comfortable shape, the body is still in great shape for a used guitar, and all-in-all, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more distinctly designed Explorer on the market.

Condition: This guitar is in very good condition overall. It shows only minor dings and light surface scratches, as well as a scuff on the headstock and a spot of wear on the fingerboard, but is otherwise in great shape for a used guitar. The frets show only light wear and still have a ton of playing time left in them. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions as it should.

Body: Reverse Explorer shape mahogany body in Antique Walnut lacquer finish. Gold Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece. Gold hardware. Single-ply grey checkered pickguard. Gold speed knobs.

Neck: Explorer rounded mahogany neck and 12” radius rosewood fingerboard with two pickguard-matching checkered inlays. Gold Steinberger gearless tuning machines. 1 11/16” nut width. 24.75” scale length. .81” deep at the 1st fret and .88” deep at the 12th.

Electronics: ’57 Classic textured humbucker in the neck and ’57 Classic Plus textured humbucker in the bridge. 2 x volume, 1 x tone control. 3-way pickup selector.

Weight: 8 lbs 2 oz

Playability/Sound: The neck shape and depth should be a very familiar and comfortable profile for most players. The 57 Classics sound great in both positions with a full and chunky neck response and crisp chime and bite in the bridge.

Case: Includes original hardshell case.
