Description
What makes this guitar special: This 2009 Gibson Custom Shop EDS-1275 is an excellent playing axe from top to bottom. This iconic guitar is only currently available through the Gibson Custom Shop, and to find one used in this condition truly makes it anything but ordinary. Combining 12-string and 6-string guitar necks in one playable instrument provides plenty of sonic potential right at the player’s fingertips. The humbuckers it comes loaded with sound just as good on both sides, each with a warm and full neck response with a more articulate, medium-bodied response in the bridge, although the bridge pickup on the 12-string side has a bit more jangle for obvious reasons. In addition, it’s still in great shape for a used guitar and comes with a pro setup and its original case.
Condition: This EDS-1275 is in very good condition overall. It does display some light to moderate play wear, primarily on the pickguards, in addition to a few very small dents, dings, and other light surface scratches. But with that said, it was still very well taken care of for a guitar that looks like it was played relatively often. The frets show hardly any wear and should have a full lifetime of playing left in them. Both necks are straight and both necks have functioning truss rods.
Body: Double-neck, double cutaway contoured mahogany body in Heritage Cherry finish. Nickel Tune-o-matic bridges and claw tail piece. Black top hat knobs and switch tips. Black 4-ply pickguards.
Neck: Medium to thick, C shaped maple necks. Bound rosewood fingerboards with split parallelogram inlays and black side dots. Both necks have a 1 11/16” nut width, 24.75 scale length, and nickel Gibson Deluxe Keystone tuning machines.
Electronics: Gibson USA Custom Shop Humbuckers in both the 6 and 12 string positions. Dual 3 way toggle switches. The lower toggle switch controls, for both necks, which pickup is selected (neck/middle/bridge), and the upper toggle switch selects which of the necks is active, 6 string, 12 string, or both.
Weight: 11 lbs. 4 oz.
Playability/Sound: Despite its slightly on-the-large-side construction, this guitar still manages to rest in your lap comfortably when sitting down, and its relatively light weight doesn’t hinder playing while standing, either. The thicker necks feel great in-hand and still provide plenty of access to the higher registers. Sonically, this guitar is incredibly versatile, as it is essentially two guitars in one. The Custom Shop pickups provide plenty of body and bite and thoroughly maintain their classic Gibson sound.
Case: Includes original hard shell case and Certificate of Authenticity.
