Description
What makes this guitar special: This is a great playing, limited run SG that borrows design elements from its sibling, the Melody Maker. It features the simple appointments and wrap around bridge of the Melody Maker, but its controls offer more versatility, closer to that of an SG standard. Somewhere along its life, a previous owner installed chrome pickup covers, which further add to this guitar’s classic look. The lightweight body and comfortable neck profile make this guitar a fantastic all-around workhorse, perfect for the road, long sessions, and whatever else you can throw at it.
Condition: This SG is in very good condition overall. It does have some minor dings, dents, chips, and surface scratches (mostly buckle wear), but is still in great shape for a used guitar. The frets are in excellent shape, showing only very slight play wear in the first position. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions well.
Body: Double cutaway contoured mahogany body in Worn Brown finish. Single ply black pickguard. Uncompensated chrome wrap-around tailpiece/bridge. Black top hat control knobs.
Neck: Slim to medium thickness, rounded C shape mahogany neck. Unbound baked maple fretboard with pearloid dot inlays. Medium-Jumbo frets. 1 11/16” nut width. 24.75” scale length. Vintage-style Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with keystone buttons.
Electronics: Gibson 490R Neck pickup and Gibson 490T Bridge pickup modified with chrome covers. 2 x volume, 1 x master tone control. 3-way pickup selector switch.
Weight: 6 lbs 1.2 oz
Playability/Sound: The neck of this SG should be instantly familiar to a large number of players with its rounded C shape. The 490s sound great in both positions. The neck pickup is warm, and well-rounded while the bridge pickup provides a bright, cutting lead tone.
Case: Includes hard shell case.
