Description
What makes this guitar special? This is a nice variation from many of the standards, classics, and traditionals with a P-90 configuration and studio-esque aesthetic. The maple top on this guitar has some serious figuring with super dark patches and highlights where the wave-like grain pattern pokes through beautifully. The P-90s are designed with the vintage formula front and center with Alnico V bar magnets and tone that provided their original prominence. They sound great in both positions with a good amount of variance between the two. The rounded ‘50s neck is very easy to play and will be right at home in the hands of a player who likes a more full-in-hand feel. If you’re looking for a Les Paul with a little different look, sound, and feel, this will be a great addition to your roster.
Condition: This Les Paul is in very good condition overall. It does possess various small nicks, dings, dents, and scratches, as well as a few finish chips on the headstock where a stand would hold it, but is still largely very clean and still looks and plays great. The frets show very little wear and still have a full lifetime of playing left in them. The neck is straight and the truss rod is functioning.
Body: Single cutaway mahogany body and a solid carved maple top in Wine Red. Tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece. Black top hat knobs with silver inserts.
Neck: Rounded ‘50s shape mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays. Chrome Grover tuning machines. 1 11/16” nut width.
Electronics: Gibson Alnico V P-90 pickups in the neck and bridge. 2 x volume, 2 x tone controls. 3-way pickup selector.
Weight: 8 lbs 7 oz
Playability/Sound: The rounded ‘50s neck is not a full baseball bat, but has a bit more heft than the regular SlimTaper many Les Pauls are equipped with now, which is perfect for players who like a little more full-in-hand feel. The P-90s sound great and are chock full of classic chime with a bit of extra jangle in the bridge position.
Case: Includes hardshell case.
