Description
What makes this guitar special: Nice and light at under 6 ½ lbs, this simple SGJ takes all the classic elements of an SG and crams them all into a inexpensive package that sounds and plays just as good. The ’61 Zebra humbuckers sound great in both positions with a warm and chunky neck response and crisp bite and jangle in the bridge. The satin body finish stays infinitely more clean than a standard gloss and yet still looks killer with a dark sunburst that graces only the top. Plus, it’s in fantastic shape for a used guitar and comes with a solid setup and hardshell case.
Condition: This guitar is in excellent condition overall. It shows only minor dings and light surface scratches, but is otherwise in fantastic shape for a used guitar. The frets show very little play wear if any, and still have a full lifetime of playing left in them. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions as it should.
Body: Double cutaway contoured mahogany body in Rubbed Vintage Sunburst finish. Black speed knobs. Satin finish Tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece.
Neck: 50s rounded D shape mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays and 120th anniversary banner in the 12th fret. Vintage-style Gibson Deluxe tuning machines with cream keystone buttons. 1 11/16” nut width. 24.75” scale length.
Electronics: ’61 Zebra Alnico V humbuckers in the neck and bridge. 2 x volume, 2 x tone controls. 3-way pickup selector.
Weight: 6 lbs 7.8 oz
Playability/Sound: The rounded 50s neck on this guitar has a bit more heft to it and is well-suited for players who like their neck profile to sit between a modern slim and classic baseball bat. The ’61 Zebras sound great. The neck provides a ton of warm body while the bridge has crisp bite and old-school jangle.
Case: Includes Gibson hardshell case.
