Description
The EarthQuaker Devices Barrows Fuzz Attacker is a refined take on the legendary three-transistor Tone Bender MkII circuit. If you're into heavy, harmonically rich fuzz with real vintage roots, this one's made for you. It's a great fit for fuzz collectors, studio hounds, or anyone chasing those gnarly, mid-forward tones found on countless iconic recordings.
Under the hood, you've got three hand-matched germanium transistors delivering everything from amp-like breakup to thick, sustain-heavy fuzz. The Level and Attack controls keep things simple, but open the door to a surprising range of textures. There's more output on tap than a vintage unit, and EarthQuaker added a phase-corrected, buffered output, so it plays nice with the rest of your board.
It runs on standard 9V power, no weird polarity issues, and it's compact enough to fit on just about any rig. Like any proper germanium fuzz, it responds beautifully to your picking dynamics and guitar's volume knob. We've had this one on the floor, and it holds its own with the best of them-vintage vibe, modern reliability, zero fuss.
Controls:
- Level: Sets the overall output volume. Plenty of gain available for boosting or pushing your amp.
- Attack: Adjusts the intensity of the fuzz. Lower settings yield smooth, amp-like drive, while higher settings unleash thick, sustaining fuzz tones.
