Description
Following the success of the limited edition JEL 100 signature head, Jake E Lee and Dave Friedman joined forces once again to create the Jake E Lee 20 Head. This signature amplifier captures Lee's distinctive tones in a compact 20-watt format designed for players who want arena-sized tone in a more portable rig. Built as a two channel, all tube amplifier powered by EL84 tubes, the JEL 20 blends vintage character with modern punch and responsiveness.
According to Jake E Lee, the amp combines the two core tones that define his sound. One channel delivers the warmth and sweetness of a classic Plexi-style voice, while the other brings the more aggressive character associated with master volume amplifiers of the 1980s. The result is a powerful tonal range that moves from muscular articulate rock tones to more aggressive lead sounds while still retaining the feel of the seventies era that shaped Lee's playing style.
The JEL 20 also includes an internal load with a cabinet simulated XLR output, allowing players to connect directly to a front of house system or recording setup without requiring a speaker cabinet. The analog cabinet simulation features controls for ground lift level and speaker cone position to fine tune the direct sound. A transparent buffered series effects loop handles pedals and rack gear with ease and is designed to work especially well with modulation effects and time-based processors. Housed in a rigid Baltic Birch cabinet finished in signature red tolex with white piping, the JEL-20 combines striking visual style with professional performance.
