Description
A vintage 1949 National "Chicago '51" 1x10 tube combo amp--one of the amps of our vintage collection recently purchased from G.E. Smith. . Manufactured by Valco, this compact little tweed amp packs a big punch. Like many amps of its era, it has an amazing bluesy lead tone. Its thick, sustained overdrive reminds of a wide-panel Tweed Deluxe--for a fraction of the price. The volume control is a little scratchy--likely due to some DC leakage across one of the preamp caps. That said, because the circuitry is all-original, we've chosen not to replace any caps to preserve the originality (and tone). This amp has been cleaned and tested. It is fully functional and sounds great.
