Description
The Gibson 70s Explorer in Dark Walnut is made for players who want bold looks and fat, aggressive tone without sacrificing comfort or reliability. Whether you're gigging in a hard rock band, recording heavy riffs at home, or just want a guitar with attitude, this one nails the aesthetic and sound of the classic 70s era without feeling stuck in the past.
It's built from solid mahogany with a SlimTaper mahogany neck, so it's got plenty of warmth and sustain, and it feels quick in the hand. You've got a rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and a 12" radius that's ideal for bending and comfortable chording. The 70s Tribute humbuckers are hand-wired and voiced to capture that thick, punchy tone that Explorers from the original hard rock era are known for. Each pickup has its own volume control, plus a master tone with an Orange Drop capacitor for that touch of classic mojo.
This guitar holds tune well thanks to the Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners and a stable Graph Tech nut. The aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece round it out with solid intonation and sustain. It ships with a Gibson hardshell case, so you're ready for travel, storage, or the next gig. We've had a lot of Explorers through the shop, and this one gets the vibe right without overdoing it.
