Description

The Gibson Custom 1958 Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Murphy Lab Heavy Aged in Bourbon Burst is a rare and beautifully crafted recreation of one of the most iconic electric guitars ever made. Built with obsessive attention to historical accuracy and designed specifically for left-handed players, this Murphy Lab creation captures everything we love about vintage Les Pauls-feel, tone, and soul-with none of the limitations of an aging original.

Finished in a stunning Bourbon Burst with Heavy Aging from the Murphy Lab, this guitar looks and feels like a true road warrior. The checking, dings, and wear patterns are expertly applied to give the impression of a guitar that's been played and loved for decades. The top is solid plain maple, finished with full cherry aniline dye that bleeds naturally into the cream binding, just like the originals. The body is one piece of lightweight mahogany for optimal resonance and sustain.

At the heart of the tone are a pair of un-potted Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups, wired with true historic spec components. These pickups capture the dynamic character of late-'50s humbuckers, offering a wide range from smooth cleans to midrange bite and growl. Whether you're into classic rock, blues, or modern tones with a vintage edge, this Les Paul delivers with clarity and responsiveness.

The neck is a one-piece mahogany carve shaped to the beloved 1958 "Chunky C" profile, measuring .90" at the 1st fret and 1.00" at the 12th. It's meaty and vintage-feeling without being unwieldy. The fingerboard is Indian rosewood, hand-selected and dark, featuring aged cellulose trapezoid inlays and traditional shell side dots on both bass and treble sides-a small but cool nod to Gibson's attention to detail. The fretwork is vintage-accurate, using narrow-tall Jescar 0459 fret wire for that just-right balance of playability and period-correct feel.

Every piece of hardware follows true historic spec, from the nickel-plated Kluson Deluxe tuners to the no-wire ABR-1 bridge and lightweight aluminum stopbar. The plastics are all vintage cream, including the jack plate, pickguard, and switch ring, and the gold top hat knobs are paired with vintage-style dial pointers.

This left-handed '58 Les Paul doesn't just look the part-it feels like a piece of history, reborn. The Gibson Custom Shop has poured every ounce of their craft into making this one right, and the result is a guitar that inspires as much as it impresses.
