The guitar is in nearly mint condition but does show evidence of being carefully handled and played a few times in our showroom. The guitar will ship as shown with full warranty and all the original factory documentation and packaging. We are authorized to give a great deal on our demo model Gretsch guitars! This is the new Gretsch Electromatic Hollow Body model G5420T in the classic orange finish. The G5420 now features a secured bridge and pro style pickup bezels! The Electromatic Hollow body models are some of the most popular on the market due to their tremendous tone and playability combined with great Gretsch style. They capture the classic Gretsch sound and vibe at an affordable price. The G5420T picks up where the G5120 left off adding the new “Black-Top” Filter’Tron pickups, ’57 style fretboard inlay, and bound F-holes. The guitar is a full hollow body arch top with a floating bridge design and parallel bar bracing with a sound post. The sound post adds stability to the structure and increases sustain while allowing the guitar to retain the essential hollow body sound. The neck angle is just right allowing the guitar to be set up with perfect action all along its 22 frets. The playability of the G5420T is great with nice low action and excellent fretwork. The neck is a "C" style shape with a low profile but not too thin. The new "Black Top" Filter’Tron pickups are excellent with full bodied tone and a warm vintage character. The bridge pickup is bright and just a bit "twangy" with a well defined mid range and responds very well some overdrive. The neck pickup is mellow and springy with a more "scooped" tonal character and sounds great when played clean. These pickups are a big improvement over the old square "Gretsch-buckers". When the Gretsch R&D team recently unearthed a Baldwin-era Filter’Tron pickup with knockout punch and phenomenal twang, they incorporated its DNA into dynamic new “Black Top” Filter’Tron™ pickups, which now endow Electromatic hollow-body instruments such as the G5420T with an electrifying new voice and identity.
The G5420T Electromatic® Hollow Body is a sharp new Gretsch guitar with a bound single-cutaway hollow body featuring sound-post bracing and elegant bound f holes. Other features include a maple neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and hump-block pearloid inlays, silver plexi pickguard, three-position pickup switch, classic “G” arrow control knobs, rosewood-based Adjusto-Matic™ bridge and Bigsby®-licensed B60 vibrato tailpiece, vintage-style open-back tuners and chrome-plated hardware. Available in Black, Orange, Sunburst and Aspen Green.
