This is the Chet Atkins Country Gentleman model G6122-1959 from Gretsch's Professional Collection. 1959 was a banner year for the Country Gentleman and the it’s features make it one of the most coveted of the vintage Gretsch models. It was Chet’s guitar of choice for many years and many photographs of Chet taken on stage and in the studio show him with his trust Gent. The G6122-1959 features a 25.5” scale and a 1 ¾” nut width making it a superb finger-style electric and one of only a few Gretsch models with both these features. Though it’s well suited for finger-style playing the G6122-1959 is very versatile and sounds great in many musical settings from rock, jazz, blues & country western. The guitar is all Pro-series Gretsch with perfect playability and neck angle and classic warm tones. The bridge mounted Filter'Tron is bright and snappy and the TV Jones SuperTron has deep bass response and great vintage character. They sound great when played clean or with a bit of overdrive as well. The guitar ships with a swivel arm installed on the Bigsby but if you'd like your G6122 set up exactly like Chet's a fixed position assembly is included. We are a long standing fully authorized independent Gretsch guitar dealer. This guitar ships with the deluxe Gretsch hard case, all documentation and our in house 1 year warranty. If you have any questions at all please feel free to give us a call!
