The guitar is in nearly mint condition but does show evidence of being carefully handled and played a few times in our showroom. Gretsch's G9480 "Laydie Belle" is one of the most accessible banjos on the market for players unfamiliar with the instrument, but don't be fooled - it is absolutely packed with great tone and a unique, eye-catching look. Its four-string setup and short scale make it an ideal instrument for players willing to try out a banjo who come from a mandolin or ukulele background. The G9480 also comes with special strings so you can tune to GDAE, or Irish tenor tuning. Irish tenor is one octave below a mandolin's tuning, so mandolin players will feel right at home with this banjo in their hands. However, seasoned banjo players need not fear; with the proper gauge strings the Laydie Belle can be tuned to standard tenor banjo tuning (CGDA). A 17-fret rosewood fingerboard over a three-piece maple/walnut/maple neck makes for an instrument that deals out diverse sounds thanks to its variety of tonewoods. A Vega-style armrest, amber maple gloss finish, and vintage style tailpiece bring everything the Laydie Belle has to offer together, making for a complete package of exemplary tone that's fit for old and new players alike.
