The Ibanez Layer Delayer is built for players who think in rhythms and want to craft intricate delay patterns beyond simple repeats. We've found it particularly compelling for ambient players, prog musicians, and anyone who uses delay as a compositional tool rather than just an effect. It's not your typical slapback or dotted-eighth delay-this one's designed to create layered rhythmic foundations.
At its core, the Layer Delayer locks to quarter-note timing but generates independent 16th-note and triplet delays, each with its own volume control up to +3dB. The TONE control morphs between digital, analog, and tape echo characters, while the FILTER section gives you a Moog-style ladder filter with resonance control for shaping your delay signal. The stereo auto-panning feature includes 8 modes that sweep your delays across the stereo field, and the FX loop lets you process just the delay signal with external effects. We've had good experience with the MIDI implementation-it syncs to clock and lets you control all parameters remotely, making it solid for both live use and studio work.
