Description
What makes this guitar special: This gorgeous guitar is among the last of the great Westerly, RI made Guilds. It's difficult to pinpoint the exact year, but evidence indicates it was probably made sometime around 1999 or 2000. The J55-12 is Guild's top of line jumbo 12-string, with all solid wood & stunning features, including abalone & mother of pearl inlays. The guitar has been professionally set up by us with fresh strings & low action, so it plays & sounds marvelous!
Cosmetic Condition: Overall the guitar is in great shape for its age. There are a few minor nicks & dings along with surface scratches from pick wear. There's some mild finish chipping along the first couple of frets of the neck, just below the binding. There's some strange discoloration in the top of the body which has a sort of orangey color to it. Not quite sure what caused that. It does not appear to be from a decal. There's an extra screw hole in the neck heel from a previous strap button.
Neck: 3-piece mahogany neck with multiple binding & black micro dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl block & abalone triangle inlays. Frets are in great shape with minimal wear & plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with mother of pearl Guild & "G" Shield inlays. Gold Grover mini Rotomatic tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 7/8" nut width; 25 5/8" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions.
Body: Jumbo body with AAA grade solid spruce top & 5-ply binding. Ebony bridge & cream end pins with abalone dots. Black pickguard & abalone rosette. Solid Indian rosewood back & sides with 5-ply binding. 17" lower bout width; 12 1/2" upper bout width; 5" depth. Guitar weighs 6 lbs 10.4 oz.
