Like his music, Rateliff's new Gibson LG-2 Western is simultaneously innovative and traditional, blending elements from two of Gibson's most beloved guitars. Combining Nathaniel's own vintage Gibson LG-2 and Country Western, the Nathaniel Rateliff LG-2 Western has a smaller-sized mahogany body and an Adirondack red spruce top. Together, these tonewoods offer warmth, depth, and a stellar vintage-approved tone. Don't let the smaller size of the body fool you, though-the Nathaniel Rateliff LG-2 Western has a voice that carries with a substantial amount of projection.
The 24 3/4" scale length bound mahogany neck feels smooth, comfortable, and looks amazing, merging design elements from the LG-2 and the Country Western. Iconic split parallelogram inlays along with a mother of pearl Gibson block logo and Crown inlay on the headstock pay homage to the Country Western, while nickel Gotoh Keystone tuners reflect Nathaniel's personal LG-2.
The volume and tone controls of the onboard LR Baggs VTC electronics are mounted at the bottom of the soundhole, per Nathaniel's preferences. This keeps the look of the guitar pristine while still making it easy to change tones on the fly. Fit with a LR Baggs pickup, the Nathaniel Rateliff LG-2 Western is stage-ready right out of the included hardshell case.
