Description
What makes this guitar special? This is a simple yet responsive acoustic with equally great tone and playability, as well as an inviting appearance. The tone of this guitar starts with a solid low end -- especially for its size -- that extends into a present but not too forward mid-range and up into a high end with lots of silky chime. The cedar top adds pleasant overall warmth that reaches throughout the dynamic range and adds a mature sounding element to this orchestra model’s tonality. Its appointments are mostly subtle but add richness to its visual character, including an abalone rosette, rosewood headstock overlay, and mahogany binding throughout. The electronics system is simple and intuitive, and goes from transparent at about 50% tone, to fully bright and articulate. The C shape neck is comfortable, familiar, and easy to move around and the 1 ¾” nut makes fingerstyle playing a breeze. With a smaller size, excellent dynamics, and similar playability, this guitar will have no trouble fitting into most rosters.
Condition: This guitar is in very good condition overall. It does possess various nicks, dings, dents, and surface scratches, but still remains in great shape and looks the same. It does possess a finish crack that extends from the lower bout past the bridge and under the pickguard, but is stable and hasn’t reached through the wood. The frets show light to mild wear and still have a lot of life in them. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod is functioning.
Body: Orchestra body with a mahogany-bound solid cedar top and East Indian rosewood back and sides. Three-ring rosette with an abalone center ring. Rosewood bridge with a compensated saddle and white bridge pins with black dots. Teardrop tortoiseshell pickguard.
Neck: Medium round C shape nato mahogany neck and mahogany bound rosewood fingerboard with aged pearl dot inlays. 1 ¾” nut width. Grover open-gear tuning machines. Rosewood headstock overlay.
Electronics: L. R. Baggs Element Active VTC electronics with volume and tone controls.
Weight: 5 lbs 1 oz
Playability/Sound: The C shape neck is very comfortable and familiar and the 1 ¾” nut makes for excellent fingerstyle playing. The combination of a smaller body and rosewood back and sides provides a fantastic dynamic range with lesser amounts of energy needed to be expressive. The low end is great even for a smaller body, the midrange is present but not overwhelming, and the top end has good clarity, but there is also pleasant warmth that envelops the overall sound due to the cedar top. The electronics are transparent at about 50% tone, but more brightness can be introduced if need be, all of which sounds great.
Case: Includes original hardshell case.
