Description

What makes this guitar special: Patterned after legendary jazz guitarist Jim Hall’s D’Aquisto, the Jazz Line features the same laminate maple top, back, and side contruction, directly mounted humbucking pickup configuration, and even the same style Violin Sunburst finish that Hall had favored so highly. Constructed in Japan, the Highly flamed laminate maple has the appearance of a high end instrument, but at a much more reasonable price tag. Plus, the guitar was designed to be an electric model from the start, so it will resist feedback at higher volumes. The DiMarzio pickup adds another dimension to the sound with a slightly gritty character that can clean up with a tweak of the volume and tone knobs. All of these features make for an instrument that is simply begging to be played out. Professionally set up by our in-house technician, this guitar is guaranteed to play great right out of the case.

Condition: The guitar is in very good, if not better, condition overall. It does display some light surface scratches, as well as some minor dents, dings, scuffs, and a nick on the cutaway, but is otherwise very clean for a used instrument that was played often. The original rosewood tailpiece was replaced with a gold Gibson Byrdland tailpiece, but the original is included. The frets show some very light wear, but are in great shape with tons of life left. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions perfectly.

Body: 16 inch lower bout single cutaway archtop body with laminate maple top, laminated maple back and sides. Violin Sunburst Finish. Single ply white binding with black/white/black purfling. The binding is covered by the Violin Sunburst Finish. Adjustable ebony floating bridge and Gold Gibson Byrdland tailpiece. Floating rosewood pickguard. D’Aquisto design F-holes.

Neck: Slim C shape maple neck (.83” at the 1st fret, .90” at the 9th fret). 20 fret bound ebony fingerboard with Mother-of-Pearl block inlays and black side dots. Bound headstock with ebony peghead veneer and Mother-of-Pearl D’Aquisto logo and “Jazz Line” scroll inlay. Shaped rosewood truss rod cover. Gold Gotoh sealed gear tuning machines. 1 11/16” nut width. 24 ¾” scale length.

Electronics: Single DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF humbucking pickup with a gold cover in the neck position. Master Volume and Master Tone controls. Ebony control knobs.

Weight: 6 lbs. 14.8 oz.

Playability/Sound: The neck will be very comfortable for a large number of players, and those transitioning from solid body electrics will appreciate the slimmer neck profile and nut width. Acoustically, the archtop has a fantastic bright response that clears up nicely when you dig into it a little harder. Plugged in, the DiMarzio pickup adds a slight grit to the signal, but with a slight turn of the tone knob, cleans up to a lovely classic jazz sound.

Case: Includes original hard shell case.
