Description
This used Dries Firechicken is a standout boutique build from a local luthier that blends premium tonewoods with thoughtful hardware and pickup choices. With a Firebird-inspired body made from figured mahogany and topped with zircote, it brings both visual flair and tonal richness. The 25.5" scale length paired with a mahogany neck and rosewood board gives it a familiar snap and clarity, while the bolt-on construction adds a hint of bite to the mix. It's extremely well-balanced for this body shape, with a solid, reassuring weight and excellent ergonomics.
The pickup combo is stellar: a covered DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary in the bridge delivers articulate, vintage-voiced tones with warmth and punch, while a Seymour Duncan SP90-1n in the neck brings that woody, open P-90 chime. A TonePros wraparound bridge adds reliable intonation and solid connection to the body, paired with CTS pots and Switchcraft 3-way toggle and input jack. It's a killer mix of classic and custom, with clean execution and a responsive feel.
