1955 was a classic year in the history of the Fender Telecaster. Shifting away from the black pickguard that had defined the Telecaster for the prior 4 years, Fender used a distinctive single-ply white pickguard. As a result, the '55 was dubbed the "White Guard." Fender Custom Shop brings that legendary instrument back to life with this limited edition 1955 Telecaster Relic in the sought-after silver sparkle finish.
On this guitar, the Custom Shop artisans hand-selected a 2-piece ash body. They paired it with a tinted 1-piece rift-sawn maple neck with a comfortably chunky '54 "U" profile, a 9.5-inch radius fingerboard, and 21 narrow-tall frets for fantastic playability.
This 1955 Telecaster Relic features period-correct '55/'56 Tele pickups hand-wound by the Fender Custom Shop and Fat '50s wiring, delivering a versatile range of gorgeous Tele tones.
It also features an authentic nitrocellulose lacquer finish, allowing the wood to resonate freely, resulting in a rich tone. The graceful relic work of the Custom Shop results in an instrument with the appearance of a gently played, well-loved guitar but with perfect fretwork and electronics for the modern player.
