Description
This one-of-a-kind Esquire was Masterbuilt by Chris Fleming & previously owned by American actor & musician Stephen Bruton who worked with a wide array of other musicians over the years including a long-term musical relationship with Kris Kristofferson.
From an interview Stephen did with Fretboard Journal: He grabs a Chris Fleming-built Fender Custom Shop Esquire, plugs it in and exclaims, "I don't know what Chris Fleming is doing, but this kills me. It's not thin; that's not a thin-sounding instrument. That's an Esquire that can take the paint off the walls."
Lightweight & exceptionally resonant, but the real magic lies in the neck - chunky V-shaped maple with no truss rod! This is a large reason why this gorgeous guitar sustains like crazy. Totally straight & a perfect player. Don't miss out on a great opportunity to own a magnificent Masterbuilt guitar!
Cosmetic Condition: Although the COA indicates this is a Closet Classic model, this guitar was used & played on stage, so there are various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a cool vibe & monster tone!
Neck: Chunky profile, V-shaped maple neck with 9.5" radius rosewood fingerboard that shows off some beautiful figuring. Clay dot inlays & 21 medium jumbo frets in great shape with only a little bit of wear. Single string tree & vintage-style nickel tuners in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" width bone nut; 25 1/2" scale. Neck is straight & plays great up & down the fretboard.
Body: Solid ash body in vintage blonde finish. The body is routed for a neck pickup so at any time the guitar can be converted to a regular Telecaster as well. The initials CF are in the neck pickup route. String-thru bridge with three adjustable brass "barrel" saddles. 4-ply tortoise pickguard & nickel hardware. Guitar weighs a delightful 6 lbs 8.5 oz. with a tight neck/body connection for awesome resonance!
Electronics: Single-coil bridge pickup - 8.70K ohms. Master volume & tone controls with knurled knobs. 3-way selector switch with black "top hat" cap. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Vintage-style Fender blonde hardshell case included along with the original COA.
