Description

What makes this guitar special: Although Gibson is more commonly known for their electrics and bigger-bodied acoustics, they’re truly nailed this 1930s throwback model. A fitting tribute to the original, this guitar features period correct design elements throughout, including its tuning machines, neck shape, (largely) hide glue construction, and appointments like its firestripe pickguard. Although some are purely aesthetic, others bring this modern remake to another level. The use of hide glue is almost immediately apparent, as this guitar’s overall resonance makes it a veritable cannon. Outside of possessing a surprisingly full sound for its tone wood combination and L-00 body, it also boasts a considerable amount of volume and a dynamic response to boot, bridging the gap between its use by both flat and fingerpickers. Its chunky 1930s V neck plays beautifully and will easily suit players who love a traditional full in-hand feel without posing much adjustment for players who more commonly employ guitars with more modern profiles. Plus, it’s still incredibly clean for a used guitar and comes with a professional in-house setup so it plays beautifully the moment it’s tuned to pitch.

Cosmetic Condition: This guitar is in excellent condition overall. It shows only very light playwear in the form of light surface scratches but is otherwise in fantastic shape for a used guitar. The frets are nearly untouched and the truss rod functions perfectly.

Body: L-00 body consisting of an Adirondack red spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Single-ply top binding. Hand sprayed nitrocellulose Vintage Sunburst finish. Single-ply top with Gibson 1930s period-correct x-braced top and adhered with hot hide glue. Traditional rectangle rosewood bridge with extended slot bone saddle. Traditional rosette. Firestripe L-00 pickguard.

Neck: 1930s V mahogany neck and 12” radius rosewood fingerboard with ¼” Mother of Pearl dot inlays. Period correct fret wire. 1 ¾” black graphtech nut. Period correct 3-in-line open gear tuning machines with cream buttons. 25” scale.
