Starting at the roots, the Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard VOS features a solid mahogany body capped with a AAA-figured maple top. The top is coated with a Red Tiger Burst finish, which pairs beautifully with the ebony-finished back. Aside from aesthetics, this Gibson plays like a genuine vintage guitar, thanks to its mahogany neck and smooth rosewood fingerboard. The neck's Carmelita profile is very similar to a '59 LP's, but is tailored for enhancing speed and playing comfort.
The 1959 Les Paul Standard VOS sports a pair of CustomBucker pickups that dish out dead-on '50s PAF tones. Made with Alnico 3 magnets, these humbuckers have a warm, sweet character with full lows, punchy mids, and crystal-clear trebles. For historical accuracy, they use 42 AWG wire, unbalanced coils, and are unpotted.
