Regardless of the fact that George Harrison & Eric Clapton rocked a '64 SG Standard, that model year was clearly a standout for SGs in general. The clunky side-pull vibrato had been replaced by the dependable Maestro Vibrola. The neck profiles had increased in size, resembling the profile found on 1959 Les Pauls. And the balance, playability & look of the SG seemed to come into its own. For all those reasons, the Gibson Custom Shop is proud to present the 1964 SG Standard Reissue. Along with the Maestro & chunky neck profile, it has all the hyper-accurate vintage specs one could possibly want - original construction methods, a real red aniline dye finish, chemically-recreated plastics, replica electronics & more. The result is perhaps the best looking, feeling & sounding SG Reissue yet. It also features Ultra Light Aging by the skilled artisans of the Murphy Lab. The Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged finish treatment, paired with lightly aged hardware, simulates decades of light play wear, giving it the unique character, vibe & feel of an original example from the Gibson Golden Era. Professionally set up with fresh strings & low action so it plays & sounds terrific!
Cosmetic Condition: Intentionally "aged" in the Murphy Lab to give it that "vintage" look - various little nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & aged hardware.
Neck: Medium C, solid mahogany neck with aged white binding & tortoise side-dots. Dark rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays. Frets are clean with no wear. Kluson single line tuners with double-ring Keystone buttons. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works perfectly.
Body: Contoured, solid mahogany body with 5-ply small black pickguard & nickel hardware. Maestro tremolo tailpiece & ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 0.4 oz.
Electronics: Custombucker Alnico 3 (Unpotted) humbuckers with 3-way toggle switch. Dual volume & tone controls with black "top hat" knobs. CTS 500K audio taper potentiometers & Black Beauty capacitors. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included along with COA.
