What makes this guitar special? To speak of the most striking aspect of this guitar, you’d first have to turn it around. The highly figured Brazilian rosewood cuts used for this guitar’s back and sides are simply phenomenal. An ebony fretboard and bridge add nice contrast to the vibrant aged top, gold tailpiece, and golden tortoise-style binding and inlays that frame the soundboard. The sound of this guitar will fit players of many styles, but will perfectly suit jazz players. The full yet airy bottom end blends beautifully into warm, round, and slightly subdued mids, and a crisp, clean high end. All in all, this guitar has a gorgeous aesthetic, excellent tone, and is pretty darn clean for its age.
Condition: This Gitane is in very good condition overall. It does posses some scratches and a few other dings and dents from use throughout the body, but still constitutes a clean figure and plays great. The frets do show some mild wear but still have quite a bit of life left in them and the neck is straight.
Body: Select solid spruce top (w/ aging toner) and highly figured Brazilian rosewood back and sides with Dalmatian tortoise-style binding and tailpiece cap. Ebony moustache bridge with moveable and compensated middle. Selmer-style tailpiece. Wood inlaid rosette with tortoise-style square and ring.
Neck: U-shaped mahogany neck. Ebony fretboard with oval fret markers. 3 per side gold-plated tuners. Gold Gitane and “(M)odele John Jorgenson” headstock script. 26-5/8” scale. 1-3/4” nut width.

Playability/Sound: The tonality of this guitar top to bottom is fantastic, especially for jazz players. The low end is airy yet robust, the mid-range is warm and slightly subdued, and the top end is bright and crisp, perfect for players who demand body and clarity simultaneously. The U-shaped neck provides tons of space for posting up a variety of chord shapes and positions. The body is wonderfully light and although unconventional for the traditional dreadnought player, still easy to swing an arm over to play.
