Description
What makes this bass special: This design was once exclusive to the British distributor Rose Morris in the '60s. This traditional Ric bass style with dot inlays & no binding was prized by Paul McCartney & Chris Squire when they got their first 4001S models in 1964. Players cherish its traditional look & rounded edges that many claim make it more comfortable than the regular 4003. Of course, the famous solid bass tones, ringing sustain & treble punch they're known for make it a dream to play. Professionally set up & ready to play straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Pretty good shape for its age, but does show signs of play wear - various small nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches & mild finish wear. Overall the bass looks nice & plays well.
Neck: Nicely rounded maple neck with cream side-dots. Beautiful rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Schaller tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 33 1/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions.
Body: Neck-thru design with solid maple wings. RIC tailpiece & bridge with adjustable saddles. Single-ply white plexi pickguard & chrome hardware. Bass weighs 8 lbs 13.1 oz.
Electronics: Vintage-style "toaster top" single coils. The bridge pickup cover is missing. Dual volume & tone controls with 3-way toggle switch. Mono output. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included along with Ric paperwork.
