Description

Doc Watson, who owned the prototype of the Vintage Artist, said, "This is the Dreadnought I've been looking for all my life." In 1991, Richard Hoover collaborated with vintage experts to identify the most desirable qualities of the iconic Pre-War D-18.

Watson's contributions to the concept were born of an appreciation of the clarity of Mahogany's tone and his requirements for playability. This marvelous examples offers all of those exceptional qualities with a voice that projects like a cannon! Professionally set up & ready to play straight out of the case.

Cosmetic Condition: Various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches & some finish/play wear. There's a crack in the treble-side of the body, upper bout that was professionally repaired & cleated. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a cool vibe.

Neck: Mahogany neck with ivoroid binding & black side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with micro dot inlays. Frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with Brazilian rosewood overlay. Nickel Waverly tuners with Butterbean buttons. 1 11/16" nut width; 25.375" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works perfectly.

Body: Double-bound Dreadnought body in natural high-gloss finish. Solid Sitka spruce top with Herringbone purfling. Ebony bridge with compensated saddle. Tortoise pickguard & multi-ring rosette. Solid mahogany back & sides with zipper center strip. Guitar weighs a delightful 3 lbs 15.9 oz. Under 4 lbs!

Electronics: After-market, under-saddle active pickup.

Case: Original hardshell case included.
