Description
Condition: This is a great sounding lap steel in good overall cosmetic shape for its age! The electronics have all been replaced including the pots, wiring, pickup, control knobs and back cover plate (see photos). The electronics work was all done professionally. The tailpiece, body, neck, nut and tuners are all original. Cosmetically there are scratches, nicks, dings, dents and chips throughout the instrument. The most noticeable wear is on the lower portion of the body and the treble side of the neck (see photos). The fingerboard has some light scratches and dings but nothing major. All electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: Solid body with rounded bottom corners and graduated treble side in green finish. Nickel tailpiece/bridge with with blue plastic pickup cover featuring a floral design. Clear skirted control knobs and a white particle board back cover plate.
Neck: Square graduated neck in green finish with blue fingerboard, white frets, white dot inlays and a 2 ¼” metal nut. Kluson Deluxe nickel tuners with ivoroid buttons. 22.5” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Single-coil pickup with master volume control, tone control, and a “bass” control which brings in some low end when turned up.
Pickup: 7.55K Ohms.
Weight: 6lbs, 14.0oz.
Playability/Sound: This lap steel sounds excellent. The pickup offers plenty of bright twang with the ability to warm up depending on how the controls are set. The bass control is very subtle but adds a nice fullness to the overall sound. The string spacing is very comfortable on the neck.
Case: Includes original hardshell case. The covering has worn off on the case and handle, the Gibson logo plaque has broken off and the leather edges are coming loose also. The case is otherwise in good working condition.
