Description

What makes this guitar special:  Well for one, Special is in the name & this beauty is the true definition of that model!  Just recently acquired from the second owner who's had it since 1980.  This gorgeous guitar was well played over the years & shows off lots of character.  It's remarkably resonant & the double P-90s sound absolutely astonishing.  This wonderful piece of Gibson history is destined to ignite a true love affair with its next lucky owner.  Don't miss out on a great opportunity to own a true vintage Les Paul.

Cosmetic Condition:  A true road warrior!  One of the trademarks of a great sounding guitar is its appearance.  Players who know what to look for in a vintage guitar tend to gravitate towards the ones that look like they've been around the world.  And this one has seen some real action - nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, pickwear, finish checking, buckle rash & finish wear - it's all there, and we love it!  But luckily, no cracks, breaks or repairs.  Just good, honest play wear on a nearly 60 year old guitar with a beautiful patina.

Neck:  Chunky, one-piece mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dots.  The back of the neck was oversprayed, but nowhere else.  Dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard has some light pitting in the first few frets, but nothing that affects playability.  Original frets show some wear, but there's still life in them.  The guitar previously had individual Kluson Deluxe tuners on it, but the original strip tuners are back on & are in perfect working condition.  Extra holes were of course created by the previous tuners.  1 11/16" original nut; 24 3/4" scale length.  Neck is straight & truss rod is functioning.

Body:  Solid, one-piece mahogany body.  Original, nickel wrap-around tailpiece.  5-ply, black pickguard shows scratches, but no cracks.  Guitar weighs 7lbs 8.2 oz.

Pickups:  Original P-90 single coils with black 'soapbar' covers.  Bridge - 8.09K ohms; Neck - 8.39K ohms.  Dual volume & tone controls with original 'top hat' knobs.  Original 3-way toggle switch.  Original pots & 'bumble bee' cap.  All electronics are original & in perfect working condition.

Case: Faux alligator chipboard case included.  The previous owner's name is written on the inside lid of the case.
