Description
What makes this guitar special: A pre-CBS gem, in player grade condition. Classic sound and feel at a more than affordable price. This piece plays great as is, but is a fantastic candidate for restoration as well. It boasts a maple neck in spectacular original condition with original fretwork and finish, and a deep V/U carve that is super comfortable. The original alder body has been refinished in white, and all the electronics have been replaced, bit the bridge & saddles are original.
Cosmetic condition: Good honest wear throughout-various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs present, with areas of finish wear and finish checking throughout. The body has been routed and refinished in white. The frets and fingerboard show wear consistent with age, but the finish on the neck is original. The string grommets are original as well, though the tuners themselves have been changed to contemporary reproductions.
Body: Offset solid alder body refinished in white with original bridge and saddles. Replacement 3-ply white pickguard. The body was routed for a humbucker at some point (see photos).
Weight: 6 lb, 6.5 oz
Neck: Deep V/U shaped solid maple neck with black side dots, black dot inlays, and walnut skunk stripe. The fingerboard shows plenty of wear consistent with age, and the original frets show considerable wear. There the action is set a bit on the high side to accommodate for the low frets. In order to obtain optimal low action, a full refret would likely be necessary. Neck is straight and truss rod is functional. 1 5/8" nut width, 22 1/2" scale length. Neck heel dates to January of ’57.
Electronics: Unoriginal pickguard & electronics. Dual single coil pickups with 3-way pickup selector switch and knurled chrome knobs, 1x tone, 1x volume. All electronics have been tested and are fully functional.
Case: Original hard shell case included! The case is in pretty rough shape, but still holds up and does the job.
