What’s special about this guitar: This is an awesome sounding and great playing vintage 1959 ¾ size Gibson Melody Maker that has been modded with a great sounding 70s Gibson humbucker, new bridge for better intonation and new tuners. The ¾ size makes the guitar a little easier to play and the humbucker really gives it a great sound.
Condition: Good shape overall! There are plenty of scratches, nicks, dings, dents and chips throughout the guitar along with consistent weather checking which gives the guitar a beautiful and authentic vintage look. There is buckle rash that has worn through to the bare wood in a small portion on the back. The pickup cavity was routed to accommodate the humbucker. The fingerboard and frets are in very good shape with moderate play wear and plenty of life left in them. One of the inlays is missing at the 12th fret, but this is merely cosmetic. The neck is super comfortable with great actin and the truss rod functions perfectly. There are some small chips in the headstock around the tuners but this causes no intonation issues. All electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: Solid, single-cutaway mahogany body in sunburst finish. Leo Quan Badass bridge, dual skirted control knobs and a single-ply black pickguard.
Neck: Super comfortable and slender mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard. Pearloid dot inlays and a 1 9/16” nut. Sealed tuners, 22.75” scale length. The holes from the original tuners are visible.
Pickups/Electronics: Gibson PAF humbuckers in the bridge position with a master volume and tone control. Both pots are vintage and one of them dates to 1974. The humbucker is likely also from the 70s.
