Description
Cosmetic Condition: We recently acquired this stunning ES-335 from a local collector who obtained it from the original owner a few months ago. Although the serial number indicates 1967 production, there are a number of important features consistent with earlier production: transition era, thicker neck radius, consistent with late '65 production; pre '67 style control knobs; Gibson embossed ABR-1 bridge, chrome plated which is also consistent with '65 production; "pineapple" headstock inlay is set slightly higher, like a '65. Cosmetically the guitar is exceptionally clean for its age & the cherry finish is very strong & vibrant. There are only minor nicks & chips with surface scratches & light finish checking throughout the guitar. There is a 2 pressed into the back of the headstock, indicating the guitar was a factory second. However, there are no structural or mechanical issues & all electronics are in perfect working condition. The neck profile is super comfortable & gets chunkier as you work your way up the neck. The guitar has been professionally set up by us with a fresh set of strings & low action. It's exceptionally resonant & offers marvelous sustain. These later 60's ES-335s are climbing in value so here's a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor!
Neck: Nicely rounded & very comfortable mahogany neck with cream binding. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl block inlays. Body: Double-bound, semi-hollow maple body with dual F-holes. Trapeze tailpiece & Gibson ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles; chrome hardware. 5-ply black pickguard is in great shape with no cracks, but has curved a little bit, which is typical. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 15 oz.
