Description
What makes this guitar special: It may not be elegant in design or execution, but what it lacks in those two it makes up for in sound, twice over. The gold-foils are the true highlight of this guitar. The neck is incredibly warm and full, yet has great mid-range character and top end articulation to boot. The bridge is rich with chime and jangle. Both carry a distinct throwback flavor that is undeniably great. The neck has an old-school chunky feel, yet still plays pretty easily due to its rounded C shape. In addition, for a guitar of its age, it is still in great shape and even comes with the original hardshell case.
Condition: This guitar is in very good condition overall, especially considering it’s around 50 years old. It does show various dings, dents, scuffs, chips, scratches, and other forms of wear, but is still in great shape for its age. The frets show only mild wear and still have a considerable amount of playing time left in them. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod is functioning. The case is in good shape structurally and the latches still hold just fine, but the lock is broken and handle is starting to split apart. Does not include vibrato arm.
Body: Double cutaway slab body in Sunburst finish. Single-ply metal pickguard. Fixed barrel bridge and barrel-style vibrato tailpiece.
Neck: Chunky C shape neck and rosewood fingerboard with large dot inlays. Open-gear tuning machines. 24.75” scale. 1 11/16” nut width.
Electronics: Gold-foil pickups in the neck and bridge. 2 x volume, 1 x tone control. 2 x on/off pickup switches.
Neck: 6.42k Ohms
Bridge: 5.10k Ohms
Weight: 6 lbs 0.3 oz
Playability/Sound: The chunky neck on this guitar definitely has an old-school feel to it, but with a standard C shape, still plays pretty easily. The gold-foil pickups sound absolutely awesome with a surprisingly warm and full response in the bridge with great articulation, and boatloads of classic jangle in the bridge.
Case: Includes original case.
