Description
What’s special about this bass: This is a great playing, fantastic sounding Newport bass with a full, warm and fat sound. The humbucker really provides a huge sound and the solid mahogany body adds natural sustain. This bass has a neck crack that was professionally repaired and now is completely stable. The result is a bass that plays and sounds great, is structurally solid thanks to the good repair work and is therefore more affordable!
Condition: This bass is in good condition overall. There are various scratches, nicks, dings, dents, chips and weather checking throughout with some buckle rash on the back. As mentioned there is a professionally repaired crack on the back of the neck near the headstock. The back of the headstock was finished over to help hide the crack. There are three small screw holes visible beneath the bridge and the string cover is missing. There are a couple tiny cracks along some of the pickguard screw holes but they are showing no movement. Fingerboard and frets have only light play wear and tons of life left in them. The neck is nice and comfortable with great action up and down the fingerboard and the truss rod functions perfectly. All electronics and parts are original and in perfect working condition. Both pots date to 1965.
Body: Solid double-cutaway mahogany body in cherry finish. Two-point tailpiece with a metal bar bridge saddle. Dual plastic control knobs with silver inserts, an Ebony thumb rest and a 3-ply white pickguard.
Neck: Super comfortable, very nicely rounded mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard. Pearloid dot inlays and a 1.5” nut; 30.5" scale length. Open-gear nickel tuners.
Pickups/Electronics: Original humbucker with master volume and tone controls.
Weight: 7lbs, 7.5oz.
Case: Includes an unoriginal hardshell case. One of the latches on the case is broken, otherwise it's in good working condition.
