Description
What makes this bass special: 100% original & just recently acquired from the original owner who purchased it brand new back in 1965. And if that wasn't enough, the bass is finished in an ultra cool & very rare Dakota Red with matching headstock! The bass has been professionally inspected by us & set up by our luthier, so it plays & sounds fantastic!
Cosmetic Condition: This bass has seen a lot of action & shows the road wear to prove it - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & finish wear. No cracks, breaks or repairs. There is a screw hole in the bass-side horn of the body from a previous strap button. Overall the bass has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina. An all original beauty with a super cool vibe, not to mention she'll be turning 50 this summer!
Neck: Slender profile maple neck with a beautiful, dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard & pearloid dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Headstock decals are in wonderful condition & still very bold with no bits missing. Nickel tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 1/2" nut width; 34" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition. Neck date is 7 JUN 65 A.
Body: Contoured, solid alder body finished in a gorgeous Dakota Red. Top-loading bridge with four adjustable saddles & original bridge cover. 3-ply white pickguard with black finger-rest. The guard has aged into a nice cream color & is in great shape with no cracks or shrinkage. There was a rectangular sticker on the pickguard quite some time ago that left a light "ghosting" image just below the finger-rest. Bass weighs a very comfortable 9 lbs 0.2 oz.
Pickups: Original Jazz Bass single coils with original cover. Both pickups are strong with good output readings of about 7.37K ohms. Dual volume & master tone controls. Original cloth wiring & solder points; pots date to '65. All electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. The case shows some minor wear & tear, but is in very good condition overall & serves its purpose well.
