Description
What makes this guitar special: A great playing transition-era Jazzmaster, with classic tone and stellar playability. This one was refinished long ago in a white finish that resembles olympic white, with a slightly darker hue. It’s aged well into a nice dark cream/tapioca color, which balances beautifully against the tortoise guard & rosewood fingerboard. This one showcases many hallmarks of a transition-era piece, with both cloth & plastic wired pickup leads, and pots that date to ’64 and ’65. One pickup dates to ’63, the other is a gray bottom that does not show a date. Professionally inspected and setup by our expert in-house luthier, this piece will arrive ready to play.
Cosmetic condition: Definitely used, but not abused, with some good honest playwear throughout. There are various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, scuffs, and chips present, with visible finish checking throughout the entire instrument. The guitar had previously been refinished prior to its current coat, so there is some visible finish bubbling around the neck plate, as well as around the tremolo. The pickguard does show some visible warp, but has no cracks, breaks, or splits. The strap buttons are unoriginal. The frets show wear consistent with age, and there is visible tarnishing on most of the hardware.
Body: Offset alder body refinished in white with multi-ply tortoise pickguard. Two-post bridge with individually adjustable threaded saddles and original bridge cover. Fender Dynamic Vibrato tremolo tailpiece.
Weight: 8 lb, 1.7 oz
Neck: Slim C-shaped maple neck with pearl side dots and dot inlays. Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is in great shape with no pitting, and while frets show wear consistent with age, they still have life left in them. 1 11/16” nut width, 25 1/2" scale length. Transition headstock logo. Original Kluson Tuners work great. Neck is straight and truss rod is functional.
Electronics: Dual single coil pickups (Bridge-7.77k ohms, Neck-8.11k ohms) with selectable rhythm & lead circuits. Volume & Tone wheels, and white witch hat knobs, 1x tone, 1x volume.
Case: Original hard shell case included. Case shows wear consistent with age, but is structurally sound and does the job.
