What’s special about this guitar: This is a 1965 Fender Mustang that has been refinished in white. The refinish work was amateur so there are plenty of uneven spots in the finish, areas of overspray and some cracking through the finish but it actually gives the guitar a unique look. This also gives someone the opportunity to put a different finish on the guitar as it would devalue the instrument any further. The guitar itself plays great and the pickups sound fantastic! The slender neck is incredible comfortable and offers a true vintage feel!
Condition: Good shape overall! The body has been refinished in white and the work was very amateur. There are plenty of scratches, nicks, dings, dents, chips and finish cracks throughout the instrument. There are a few heavy dings and chips throughout the edges of the body. There is some blemishing on the metal parts but it gives them a cool vintage look and they all function perfectly. Much of the finish has worn off the back of the neck but this actually gives the neck a super sleek and comfortable feel! A part of the “F” on the Fender logo on the headstock is gone (see photos). The fingerboard and frets are in very good shape with only moderate play wear and plenty of life left in them. The neck is very comfortable with great action and the truss rod functions perfectly. There is a very small crack in the fingerboard just about the truss rod but it does not affect playability or the structural integrity of the neck whatsoever. There is some scratching or “popping” that can be heard when using the pickup selector switches but they function fine otherwise and the noise is minimal. All electronics and parts are otherwise in perfect working condition.
Body: Solid double-cutaway body in white finish. Original Fender Dynamic Vibrato tailpiece and height-adjustable bridge with six individual saddles. The trem arm is missing. Dual plastic control knobs on a metal control panel and a 3-ply pearloid finish.
Neck: Super slender maple neck with a gorgeous Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. The fingerboard really has some lovely variegation! White dot inlays and a 1.5” nut. Kluson Deluxe single-stripe tuners with ivoroid buttons, 22.5” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Original grey bottom single-coil pickups in the neck and bridge with master volume and tone controls and dual on/off/phase switches for the pickups.
Neck: 5.51K Ohms.
Bridge: 5.43K Ohms.
