Description
Condition: This is a very affordable and great sounding vintage Duo Sonic II! The body has been refinished in blue and the neck is unoriginal to the body and dates to 1964. The nut is unoriginal, has a chip on the low e string slot and there are marks around it from when it was installed. The screws on the tuning machines are unoriginal and much bigger than the original screws. Various scratches, nicks, dings, small dents and some excess finish throughout the body. The pickup on/off/phase switches, some wiring and the tone pot have been replaced. There is a wire running from beneath the bridge to the underside of the control panel acting as a ground. This is unoriginal but works. Fingerboard and frets have moderate play wear with some heavier wear towards the lower registers. The neck is mostly straight. There is a very slight hump in the bass side where it meets the body but it is perfectly playable. Truss rod functions fine.
Body: Solid double-cutaway body in blue finish. Top-load hardtail bridge with three individual saddles. Chrome control panel with black plastic control knobs and an unoriginal 4-ply pearloid pickguard with slider switches. Pickguard has been cut by hand toward the bottom edge.
Neck: Slender maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. There is some light finish disruption on the back of the neck and near the nut and fingerboard. White dot inlays and a 1.5” nut. Kluson Deluxe nickel tuners with ivoroid buttons, 24” scale length. One of the neck screw holes on the body is widened just slightly but all screws hold firmly in place.
Pickups/Electronics: Single-Coil pickups in the neck and bridge with master volume and tone controls and dual on/off/phase switches.
Neck: 6.62K Ohms.
Bridge: 6.80K Ohms.
Weight: 7lbs, 4.0oz.
Playability/Sound: This Duo Sonic offers an authentic vintage sound, look and feel. The pickups sound excellent and the very slender neck is exceptionally comfortable and ideal for players who prefer a very slim profile neck.
Case: Includes newer model Fender hardshell case.
