Description
What makes this guitar special: A truly remarkable player with superb tone & lots of cool, vintage character. This gorgeous Tele sports all the classic hallmarks that make this one of the most sought after vintage guitars on the market - solid ash body, slim B-shape maple neck with Brazilian rosewood fingerboard & a pair of dynamite sounding single coils that ring like a bell. Professionally set up by our luthier & ready for action straight out of the case.
Cosmetic Condition: Great shape for its age with some modest play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. We're not 100% if the body has been refinished, but the guitar has definitely been oversprayed - both the neck & body. There's an odd rectangular pattern that surrounds the neck pickup, which upon first glance appears to be a filled in route & there's a small crack in the neck pocket wall (see photos). But we didn't see a discrepancy in the wiring chamber that would indicate an after-market route, so again it's a bit of an oddity. At any rate we felt the need to call it out & in general the area looks really clean & hardly noticeable. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a cool, true vintage vibe & beautiful patina.
Neck: B-shape maple neck with beautiful, dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard & pearloid dot inlays. The guitar was refretted with medium-jumbo frets which show no wear. Original Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod functions fine. Neck stamp reads 3 JUL 66 B.
Body: Solid ash body in transparent blonde finish. String-thru bridge with adjustable saddles. Bridge cover is missing. 3-ply white pickguard is in great shape with no cracks & has aged nicely into more of an off-white. Guitar weighs 8 lbs 3.2 oz.
Pickups: Original single coils with cloth wiring. Bridge - 6.63K ohm; Neck - 7.14K ohms. Master volume & tone controls with knurled knobs; 3-way selector switch; pots date to '66. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. The right latch is a bit finicky & a portion of the Fender logo on the outside of the case is missing. But all in all the case is in good condition & serves its purpose well.
