Description
What makes this guitar special: A mojo filled late 60’s/early 70’s beauty with terrific snappy playability and trademark tele tonality (say that ten times fast). Someone went ahead and stripped the finish off this one at some point, but beyond that and the pickguard, she’s all original. The headstock has aged nicely, and the guitar shows some good honest wear throughout, but sports a beautiful vintage patina and has a ton of life ahead of it. It’s been professionally inspected and setup by our expert in-house luthier, and will arrive ready to play.
Cosmetic condition: Typical playwear for its age, with various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, scuffs, and spots of finish wear throughout. The finish on the headstock has aged nicely into a dark caramel color, with visible checking all throughout. The original finish was sanded off, and it appears a thin layer of clear coat or oil was applied to soften it to the touch. The guitar previous had an added bigsby mounted on it (included in the case), which has been removed. There is some slotting in the bridge plate, likely done to accommodate the Bigsby. The holes from the Bigsby have been filled as well. The pickguard is not original, and has been painted black. Frets show wear consistent with age, but still have some life left in them, and all notes intonate properly up and down the length of the fingerboard.
Body: Solid ash body with single cutaway in stripped natural finish. 3-ply painted black pickguard and ashtray bridge with triple steel barrel saddles.
Weight: 7 lb, 13 oz
Neck: C-shaped maple neck with black side dots and black dot inlays. 1 5/8” nut width, 25 1/2" scale length. Original F-stamped Fender tuners function perfectly. Maple fingerboard is in good overall shape, and edges show wear consistent with age. Frets show wear as well, but still have a good amount of life left in them. Heel dates to ’70. Neck is straight and plays great up and down the length of the fingerboard.
Electronics: Original single coil pickups (Bridge-6.04K ohms, Neck-6.98K ohms) with 3-way pickup selector switch (replacement switch tip) and knurled chrome knobs, 1x volume, 1x tone. Pots date to ’66, and all electronics are in fully functioning condition.
Case: Unoriginal contemporary hard shell case included.
