Description

What makes this bass special:  An exceptionally fine example of a Japanese-made "lawsuit" Ric 4001.  This bass has all the hallmarks of Rickenbacker's iconic bass, right down to the neck-thru design & pearloid triangle inlays.  There are no markings anywhere to indicate who the manufacturer is, but it looks very much like the ones Ibanez was producing back in the '70s.  So if you're looking for the look, sound & feel of a 4001, but don't want to put a serious dent in your wallet, look no further.

Cosmetic Condition:  Cool vintage vibe with a beautiful patina.  There are various nicks, dents, dings & surface scratches.  The body binding shows some discoloration & there's some cloudiness in the fingerboard finish between the third & sixth frets.  Overall the bass has a great look to it & has been professionally set up by us.

Neck:  Maple & walnut neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dots.  Rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl triangle inlays.  Frets are in great shape with no wear.  Unoriginal truss rod cover.  Waffle-back tuners are in perfect working condition.  1 11/16" nut width; 34" scale length.  Neck is straight & there are double truss rods just like a real Ric.

Body:  Neck-thru design with solid maple wings & top binding.  Top-loading bridge with adjustable saddles.  Single-ply white pickguard is in great shape with no cracks.  Bass weighs 8 lbs 9.1 oz.

Pickups:  "Toaster" neck pickup & Hi Gain bridge pickup with original cover included.  Dual volume & tone controls with 3-way toggle switch.  Standard & Stereo-Sound inputs.  All electronics are in good working condition.

Case:  Original hardshell case included.
